Gerbase’s tenure on Savile Row was apparent from the get go. Using both male and female models, traditional gender roles were rejected and instead androgynous, well-tailored, loose fitted garments were the order of the day.1205bThe collection featured impeccable tailoring in a neutral palette of ice blues, navies, khakis, blacks, slate greys and crisp whites. The focus was on minimalistic tailoring in luxurious fabrics, with no room for the fuss and frills of prints. Instead, the collection was all about shapes. Collars and hems created clean and razor sharp lines that contrasted with oversized blazers, slouchy trousers and rounded sweatshirts.

Oversized tailoring, knee-skimming culottes, midi-length white shirts and a utilitarian boiler suit will be the uniform for the effortlessly cool this SS14. Enthusiasts of the AW13 masculine-chic trend will slip into 1205’s collection effortlessly.

Models were bare-faced and dewey, and hair was slicked into centre partings. Accessories were kept to a minimum too, and nondescript sandals  were worn to ensure all eyes were on the clothes themselves.

This was a fluid collection that received a restrained celebratory applause – I however had a little cheer for Gerbase who achieved something great today.
