My own (Eleven) Paris Fashion Week

When brands throw parties in store, I'm never entirely sure what to think. Firstly all that champagne in such close proximity to often expensive clothing makes me a bundle of nerves, and secondly there is always something a bit odd about dancing around to a DJ essentially in a shop that's open a little bit later than usual. Nevertheless, what I do love about in-store soirees is that they are... ...READ MORE

This Girl in GANT Rugger

It's no secret that I wear a lot of menswear from GANT Rugger - how many times have you seen me bust out that slipcase (whoops its here again) and wear ties and socks from the brand? Available in XS, it's a menswear label that fits me well, and I love the preppy, east coast vibe that the guys at Rugger channel. It turns out I'm not the only girl... ...READ MORE

A True Gentleman: Monsieur London

Like a lot of my menswear meetings, it all started with a tweet. Monsieur London drew my attention to their pop-up store at Box Park in Shoreditch, and invited me into see first hand what they were up to when I was next in town. No offers of gifts or champagne, just a good old fashioned - hey pop in, this is what we are about. And wow, Monsieur did... ...READ MORE

Where to shop the Menswear trend in the Women’s Aisles

Although I wear a lot of men's clothing, I also shop in the women's aisles, which is why the menswear inspired trend for this season is a bit of a God send. I'm sure you've cottoned on to the rise in popularity of brogues, loafers and monks, and have noticed that one of the "it" coats for this season is worn oversized. If you want to channel masculine chic but... ...READ MORE

OSMAN at London Fashion Week

The Osman show blew my socks off. Sadly, because it preceded the Giles and Tom Ford shows, the Bloomsbury Ballroom was rather empty for such an epic performance by the designer. British born Osman Yousefzada, has fine design in his blood. His mother ran a couture dress making business in Birmingham, and years of craftsmanship are clear in his intricately details garments. His pieces are understated and intelligent - no need for... ...READ MORE

A younger vibe at London Fashion Week

Day 4 at LFW introduced a far younger, more dynamic set of designers to my schedule. In the TOPSHOP show space I saw girls grind at Nasir Mazhar's presentation. This raucous gaggle cussed, chatted on their mobile phones and slut-dropped as we the (more conservatively attired) onlookers encircled them like disapproving teachers chaperoning the school disco. If theirs was the cool crowd, I'm ok not fitting in. Bikini tops, skin... ...READ MORE

LFW Day 5: Today I’m Wearing…

So it's the last day of London Fashion Week, and I'm a little bit bleary eyed after a rather crazy night spent at The Box at the ID Magazine "New York, New York" after party. Yesterday was incredibly busy, but it was well worth it for the beautiful variety of shows I attended and the people I met. I have to admit, I'm a bit sad that I'm not headed... ...READ MORE

Meadham Kircchoff at London Fashion Week

I know, that everyone has moved onto Milan Fashion Week now and that London Fashion Week already feels like it was last weeks news, but I still haven't gotten over quite how beautiful some of the collections were and wanted to share some of my pictures with you from the Meadham Kircchoff show. This design duo are a bit like marmite, you either swoon over their boundary pushing collections or... ...READ MORE

LFW Day 4: Today I’m Wearing…

The heavens opened yesterday and it rained and rained, and then rained some more. To be honest standing around as it pours isn't all that fun and if people aren't attending shows they aren't hanging around, so the style spotting yesterday wasn't all that great. Today I'm wearing these gorgeous patterned trousers by Japanese brand Edwin with an oversized TM Lewin men's dress shirt. My statement necklace is from Revival, a brand... ...READ MORE

TOPSHOP Unique at London Fashion Week

If you want fabulous with a capital F, then you're talking the Unique by Topshop show yesterday. In the Topshop space at Regent's Park Philip Green sprinkled his magic dust and pulled in quite the crowd for the occasion. Playing who's who on the FROW could not have been easier - these are faces you've seen before. Ellie Goulding, Pixie Geldof, Suki Waterhouse, Atlanta de Cadenet, Daisy Lowe, Samantha Barks... ...READ MORE

Sophia Webster at London Fashion Week

At the heart of Regent's Park is the London Fashion Week Topshop show space, a festival ground of colour and tents hosting a selection of shows and presentations this week. The grounds were the home to Sophia Webster's secret garden tucked away behind the central catwalk. We queued up this afternoon to make our way through the floral arches admiring the hanging baskets where butterflies rested and rather fabulous footwear... ...READ MORE

LFW Day 3: Today I’m Wearing…

It's Sunday, day of rest - I think not! The rain seems to have ceased for the day and the sun has got his most fashionable hat on, so I'm off to North London to kickstart my day with Sophia Webster's shoe presentation. Today I'm wearing my Topman rabbit print short sleeved shirt - a menswear favourite. I've got my TM Lewin dark red silk woven skinny tie on framed... ...READ MORE

1205 at London Fashion Week

The 1205 show had a big gold star next to it in my diary - for a Girl in Menswear, this was the unmissable SS14 performance. Hosted in the School of Tropical Medicine and Disease, the industrial space was bare, with a limited number of attendants perched on benches and with fuss generally kept to a minimum. This of course, was to set the tone for the show that followed.... ...READ MORE

Day 2:LDN Fashion Week Roundup

Yesterday was an incredible day of shows, kickstarting the day with the Orla Kiely presentation just off Denmark Street near Tottenham Court Road in an intimate attic space that was done up to resemble a safari camp. Although a bit overcrowded, the audience were lined up to witness Tarzan's Janes saunter through their African abode to the theme tune of "In the Jungle" - we were served Um Bongo and... ...READ MORE

LFW Day 2: Today I’m Wearing…

Yesterday was absolutely amazing. Despite the incessant drizzle (at times a downpour) and my lack of anything waterproof, I had a great time strolling around Somerset House, bumping into faces of old and being acquainted with some of my blogging, photography and journalism idols. It was a full on day of shows, behind the scenes reporting, meetings, presentations and a mean afterparty where the Noisettes performed to an intimate crowd (including... ...READ MORE

PPQ x Mascotte at London Fashion Week

Mascotte are the official shoe sponsors of London Fashion Week, so I was delighted when they invited me to be their social media voice for the duration of the shows. As part of their LFW partnership, the brand had designed an exclusive collection of statement heels for British design duo PPQ. As a consequence, I was invited backstage at the PPQ show to report what goes on behind the scenes... ...READ MORE

Christopher Raeburn at London Fashion Week

Christopher Raeburn blends urban functionality with a strong commitment to sustainability. His eco-friendly tag, means that his collections are never to be taken at face value alone. Though they may be aesthetically pleasing, its how they are made and what they are capable of doing that make them all the more inviting. Raeburn uses shower-proof laminated linen, Eco-PrimaLoft (an insulation fabric made of recycled plastic bottles) and 'cool wool', a material... ...READ MORE

Backstage Beauty at London Fashion Week

You have probably noticed that although I love clothes, I am not very well versed in the ways of make-up and beauty. I have so much admiration for people who are able to transform their faces with a lick of eyeliner, or add a dewey glow to their cheekbones to bring together a look, but unfortunately I'm still learning how to limit my bronzer application so I don't look orange... ...READ MORE

LFW Day 1: Today I’m Wearing…

I can barely contain my excitement, London Fashion Week has arrived! It is Day 1 and I'm heading up to Somerset House, to kick start my day with the catwalk show by Bora Aksu, who told the British Fashion Council that “The Bora Aksu girl is the one who grew up as a tomboy”  - sounds pretty ideal, right? I'm then off to Waldorf Hilton for the Kilian Kerner presentation, then... ...READ MORE

The London Fashion Week mascot for Mascotte & #StylistLFW

I mentioned how excited I am to be writing my London Fashion Week diaries for Stylist.co.uk, reporting on what I'm up to and where I'm going. If you live in the London area you will have heard "free Stylist, free Stylist" on your morning commute on many an occasion, and you have probably swung by their fantastic website too where they retain their ethos on reporting great fashion news, beauty... ...READ MORE

You will never guess where I am writing this post from? Right now I am posting from the sky. Anyway, I am headed back to London for Fashion Week which starts this... ...READ MORE

Because Manhattan loves Menswear

The New York Fashion Week runway has been open for a few days, and flocks of well-dressed fashion folk have descended upon the Big Apple for a week of fashionable festivities and substantial commercial decisions. Sadly, I haven't had the opportunity to cross the Atlantic to join Anna Wintour and the Beckhams on the front row, to admire the creme de la creame of American design. However, if you find... ...READ MORE

River Island A/W13

Yesterday morning I enjoyed a press breakfast with the charming gents from River Island. They've been selling to the Stockholmites for a while now via Nelly.com (that's the ASOS of the Nordics to you and I), and are now looking to set up shop in this trendy Scandi capital. Over orange juice, they showed us around their A/W13 menswear and womenswear collections, including their Rihanna and Eudon Choi lines for... ...READ MORE

Much more than a time piece.

[caption id="attachment_1453" align="alignnone" width="742"] From left to right: Oktopus II in Rose Gold, Spidolight II in Tech Green.[/caption] My recent collaboration with LoveGold has had me thinking increasingly about the beautiful jewellery items available for men. Traditionally jewellery is associated with the ladies, however men always trop trump us girls in one bejewelled department, and that is the watch. Ask a room full of men what fashion-related item they wouldn't... ...READ MORE

Good as Gold.

As the A/W collections replace the summer styles, it is clear that the androgynous look is set to be big for this season. Much to my delight, fabrics and fine tailoring traditionally reserved for men has crept into the women's aisles, and this masculine elegance has extended to jewellery too. It all started with the oversized boyfriend watch a few years ago (how many of you own one from the Michael... ...READ MORE

Small feet, small…well sneakers actually.

You've heard me talk about tomboy label WILDFANG, whose co-founders were frustrated that the clothes they loved were always designed for men, well now let me introduce you to another kick ass female duo creating a stir in menswear, but this time they're shining a light on sneakers. Emily Hodgson and Emilie Riis were sick of falling in love with dark, slick trainers in the men's shoe departments that were... ...READ MORE
