A new brand from Berlin, meet ACHTLAND.

I have to thank blogger Susie Lau for many of my new designer discoveries. Although Miss Bubble has a far edgier and streetwear inspired style than yours truly, she never fails to give air time to emerging designers of all disciplines on her iconic blog. And so, this week whilst getting my daily Bubble-blog fix, I was introduced to Berlin-based brand ACHTLAND. Launched in early 2012 by Thomas Bentz and Oliver... ...READ MORE

Oliver Spencer: Boys clothes for girls.

AW13 saw everyman label Oliver Spencer expand into the realms of women's fashion. To be honest "fashion" doesn't really sum-up what Oliver Spencer is all about. Like fellow-British brands Albam and YMC, Oliver Spencer rejects passing fads and trends in favour of quality fabrics in wearable cuts. As a consequence, he has fast become the go-to label for the modern man (and now woman too) who seeks easy to wear clothing... ...READ MORE

The hero suit.

Oh Top-le-shop, has done it again. Just when I think I may have outgrown the label (tragic I know), I get sucked right back in again with some of their beautiful pieces at very alluring price tags. The above look is from the brand's Modern Tailoring line, their more corporate (but still stylish) collection. I am normally fearful of a pinstripe, finding that few brands manage to disassociate the vertical... ...READ MORE

Toilet humour

Oh dear, I am already pre-empting a night out when re-enacting the SS14 Alexander Wang advertising campaign will seem like a good idea. Love everything about these shots and plan to be styling my shirts in a similar fashion - well, give or take a few buttons. ...READ MORE

Neck ties and neon

Another Man is the achingly hip publishing brainchild of Dazed Group's Jefferson Hack. In its 17th issue, it always promises an alternative perspective on culture, the arts, luxury and of course menswear fashion, and so it's hardly surprising that this week's "If I were a boy" heralds from its pages. Like something out of a neo-noir art house feature, I love the colours and graininess of these shots of Val... ...READ MORE

Once Upon a Time…

Ok, ok, I know Dolce & Gabbana are the antithesis of Girl in Menswear dressing, theirs are the ostentatious show-stopping pieces for the most womanly of women, but even this girl (with her love of sartorial styling) cannot resist featuring their whimsical AW14 collection. Dolce & Gabbana create collections overspilling with beauty and excess, so it seems only natural that AW14 should be themed around the fantastical world of the... ...READ MORE

If I had £2000…

...at my disposal, to spend as I wish. I would spend it on an incredible holiday to a far-flung destination where the sun always shines, and the water is the most beautiful shade of aquamarine. BUT, let's say I chose to spend it on clothing (because that's what fashion bloggers do), I would buy Christopher Kane's tulle top, with SS14's distinctive anatomical flower, adorned in sequins and intricately embroidered. It... ...READ MORE

A circular motion

With all this talk of AW14, it's easy to forget that despite the rain and wind, we are in fact in SS14 at the moment. If, like me, you are besotted with suits, you will be more than excited by all the matchy-matchy two pieces that are arriving in store for this season. As you will know from my previous outfit posts, I tend to pair my sartorial arsenal with... ...READ MORE

London Fashion Week: The Presentations

As promised, here are a few of my shots from the London Fashion Week presentations I managed to get to. I love a runway show, but there is something special about getting to interact with the models and get right up close to the collections. MARKUS LUPFER When I walked into Markus Lupfer my first reaction was "what happened to all the sequins?" With lashings of sparkle adorning the likes... ...READ MORE

Food for thought

Anya Hindmarch and Moschino have caused quite a stir in the realms of food-themed-fashion this week. At London Fashion Week, Hindmarch's models travelled the catwalk by conveyor belt, accessorising with all our British supermarket favourites; Digestive biscuit wallets, washing up powder clutches, a Kellogg's Corn Flakes tote and a cereal-sister brand Frosties oversized handbag. Meanwhile, Jeremy Scott's debut collection for Moschino on Thursday was themed around our state-side fast-food and confectionary... ...READ MORE

Fringed monks by Pollini

Pinch me I'm dreaming, these shoes are literally the most gorgeous flats I've seen in a while. It's Milan Fashion Week so it seems only apt that I include a pair of shoes from an Italian brand (even if the Creative Director is of British origin). Pollini is a traditional Italian footwear label that's been around since the 50's. Once under the helm of Jonathan Saunders,  SS11 saw Nicholas Kirkwood... ...READ MORE

London Fashion Week: It’s showtime!

Here's a little secret for you. Most fashion bloggers have jobs or are studying too, it's quite unusual for a blogger to be able to take five days out of their schedule to attend shows and presentations, unless they work in publishing/fashion/are freelance, and consequently get to double up for their day jobs. In my case, I work for a Scandinavian brand that was presenting in a showroom during London... ...READ MORE

Erin Wasson for FRAME

Just when you thought Karlie Kloss was the cherry on the achingly cool FRAME cake, they go and get tomboy hero Erin Wasson as the face of their SS14 campaign. If ACNE and Cheap Monday have taught us one thing, it's that the Swedes know how to do denim. Founded in 2012 by Jens Grede and Erik Torstensson, the duo is best known for giving us the fashion marketing giant The Saturday Group, and... ...READ MORE

Which British Fashion Couple are you?

There's something very special about viewing a designer's menswear collection, and then soon after seeing what they have up their sleeves for the ladies. London Collections Men has given a fantastic platform for menswear, but as London Fashion Week draws to a close I find myself wishing I could see both the men and women take to the catwalk together (just once) for a complete look at the designer's visions. At... ...READ MORE

An award.

If you follow me on social media, you will already know this, but I wanted to share it on the blog anyway. On Sunday (I know I'm late by blogging standards!) I was awarded the British Fashion Council Blogger Award at a breakfast during London Fashion Week (woohoo!). At said breakfast, Jefferson Hack (Editorial Director and Publisher of Dazed Group) interviewed legendary blogger Diane Pernet of "A Shaded View on... ...READ MORE

Reflecting on facial hair

As a girl, I'm very thankful that genetics has gifted me with minimal facial hair, but there are times when I am envious of my boyfriend's big ginger, cast-away style beard. Beards to boys, are like shoes to girls. You can tell a lot about a man by the facial hair he keeps, and they make for a fantastic conversation starter and catalyst for compliments amongst the male peer group.... ...READ MORE

The London Fashion Week newbies

I wrote  a few posts in the run up to London Fashion Week about the new (debatably more commercial) arrivals to the catwalk this season. Unlike New York, London has limited the high street attendance to Topshop Unique, preferring to showcase contemporary and premium brands during their catwalk calendar. However, Hunter, Joseph and Whistles all pulled in a crowd for their LFW debuts and here's how it went down. Hunter... ...READ MORE

More of what I wore to #LFW

The lovely David Nyanzi shot me on my first day of Fashion Week as I dodged the rain and gale force winds - for God's sake English weather, could you not lay off for just one season!?! Regardless of the downpour it was a great day of shows and presentations hosted at the BFC show space, the Fashion Scout building and offsite locations scattered around London. I wore  a Topman... ...READ MORE

French Connection for Fashion Week

The lovely folks over at French Connection invited me into be pampered and pruned for my second day of Fashion Week. They were kind enough to arrange my makeup and hair styling (which sadly was quickly dishevelled by the good old English weather!), and I got to try on a selection of their gorgeous SS14 collection, eventually opting for this beautiful pale pink suit and white shirt. I'm totally besotted... ...READ MORE

MSGM: Contemporary Italian fashion

Born in 2009, MSGM is the hottest contemporary brand to come out of Milan - think hip, youthful, full of colour, texture, stripes and prints. The brand has had a good year, it showed at Milan Fashion Week for the first time, opened its first store in their native fashion capital and have just been bought in by net-a-porter (they were already stocked at mytheresa, yoox and luisaviaroma) . Founder, Rimini-born Giorgetti,... ...READ MORE

NYFW – Masculine minimalism lives on

If you're worried that the "boy" trend will be no more for AW14 girls, fear not, I've scouted the New York Fashion Week shows to give you the best designers serving up a slice of the sartorial for next season (so far that is!). Net-a-Porter’s The Edit

Net-a-Porter's weekly online magazine has fast become a staple on my weekly reading list. This week's The Edit features the above powerful looks. On the left, the statement jacket by Marc Jacobs and matching shorts gives an updated, eye-catching take on the two piece trend, and on the right this sensual pantsuit by sartorial specialist Saint Laurent offers a stylish alternative to evening dressing. Topshop Kinky cut out low shoes

I'm coming back to London for Fashion Week - hooray! This means a few things for an otherwise Stockholm based somebody 1) I will be able to drink a glass of wine (hell a bottle of wine) for less than a tenner 2) I can trade in my "fil" yoghurt and granola for a proper eggs Benedict for brekki (yum yum) and 3) I get to go SHOPPING! Yes, Scandinavia... ...READ MORE

Leading fashion up the garden path

In light of the Fashion and Gardens exhibition that opened its doors on the 7th of February at the Garden Museum, London, and the first spotting of a snowbell here in Stockholm (without much snow at all really this winter), I give you my roundup of the best flowery pieces arriving in store for this Spring/Summer. This must be…POP!

From the menswear aisles I've got my eye on this bomber jacket from Original Penguin's new capsule line inspired by Warhol's Pop Art movement. It's a fun, young take on this seasons sportswear trend and I'm loving the pastel mint paired with the navy. The bomber costs £80 and you can get it here. Spring suit

I am abandoning blacks and greys today in favour of Spring colours. It's five degrees (toasty up where I live) so I'm putting away my long johns (sexy I know) in favour of breezier fabrics and brighter colours. Louis Vuitton’s Foulard d’artistes

I seem to be writing a lot about scarves of late, sharing pictures of the Damien Hirst x Alexander McQueen capsule collection and the Liberty x Kenzo collaboration too. If only…

...I looked like this in my joggers, hey? Styled for Vogue Spain's February issue by Marina Gallo, Stina Rapp Wastenson looks effortless in this laid-back look. Monochrome sportswear, loose-fitting fabrics and exciting proportions make this an ultra stylish outfit. Who would have said that a comb over, joggers and Jesus sandals would channel such a rock 'n' roll vibe!?! Brothers, Sisters, Sons & Daughters

Luxury department store Barneys is creating waves in the SS14 advertising space. Whilst other retailers are featuring soft flower arrangements, bright summer colours and teams of models seductively draped around city-scapes, Barneys is launching an advertising campaign to raise awareness about transgender issues. Bold right? I'm ashamed to say that at first I shrugged it off as another provocative marketing initiative in the style of Harvey Nichols or United Colours of... ...READ MORE

Copenhagen Fashion Week AW14 Highlights

Four very stylish eyes

I know you don't see me in glasses all that often, but I've actually had optical assistance since I was about 12 years old. I love wearing my specs, but don't shoot looks nearly enough with them on. The tomboy trail.

This month, Vogue has run a feature on fashionable looks for wearing when you're exercising. I'm not going to lie to you, I have a total aversion to the gym. Michael Kors Menswear AW14

Not so long ago I wrote a post about Michael Kors' pre-fall collection for women, lusting over the masculine tailoring, bloated silhouettes and luxurious fabrics. It seems appropriate then that I should share with you their AW14 menswear line, which is equally refined.Michael Kors creates clothes that look and feel luxurious, but are easy-to-wear, understated and, above all, comfortable. Like British designer Nicole Farhi, there is no room for fussy... ...READ MORE
