My “best dress list” includes all the usual suspects; Clemence Poesy, the Olsens, Alexa Chung, Charlotte Gainsbourg…I know, I know it’s all a tad cliche, but there you have it. I could eat up their style all day along.
But for Fall, I’ve decided to broaden my fashionable horizons and look elsewhere for some inspiration. So here’s the skinny on the girls I’ll be emulating this season.
I have a serious persuasion for this particular Asian.
Ji Hye Park is the South Korean model, making comfy, tomboy dressing that little bit cooler. I mean you don’t get much more awesome than these cropped, tailored dress pants offset with this season’s hero piece – the chunky cosy knit. But for this particular look we really need to talk accessories. Those shoes? Flat-out perfection. A fedora? Currently seeking one of my own. However, it’s those boyish braces loosely lassoed over her bosom that really tie the look together – watch this space, I will be trying this look out at home.
GET THE LOOK
You probably saw Lea Seydoux in “Blue is the Warmest Colour” and then spent the next week deliberating a) the likelihood of being fired if you adopted a blue-rinse pixie crop b) the likelihood of being dumped if you were to take a French female lover. The answer? Yes you’ll get fired – it may just be worth it. Yes – you’ll get dumped – if said lover looks like Lea, it’ll definitely be worth it.
Seydoux is the kind of woman that inspired Saint Laurent to craft tuxedos and Helmut Newton to shoot them. Strong, empowering and pretty damn sexy too, her black tie attire is tailored with a rock and roll edge. I’m seriously lusting over this Emlio Pucci velvet co-ord she’s wearing, but guess where I’ve just bought a rather similar one from? Altuzzura for TARGET – how much? £100. Sacre Bleau!

Another French girl on the list is Aymeline Valade – perhaps you remember seeing her rock a tuxedo at Cannes, or have read about her recent foray into film, playing Yves Saint Laurent’s muse Betty Catroux in the forthcoming fashion biopic – which incidentally Seydoux also stars in. Hers is a simple uniform marked by androgynous pieces, with refined details. She’s always seen with her leather jacket, and then it’s a mix-and-match of denim shirts, breezy tees and ankle grazing trousers. Effortless. Well…for some.
