Last week the lovely folks over at ASOS Fashion Finder invited me to take part in a challenge styling a piece from the Urban Outfitters Urban Renewal range – awesome. The Urban Renewal collection is the brand’s vintage line, which is curated by a team of savvy buyers from thrift stores and flea markets, and then reworked to sell in store. As a consequence, every piece in the collection is unique, so if you’re popping in store it’s worth grabbing a few of the same items and trying them all on, as the sizes and shapes can vary.

We (the blogger crew) were tasked with selecting one item from the collection and styling it five ways. I picked the Vintage Renewal Levi’s 501 Jeans which are wide-legged boyfriend style, as I thought they would be the ideal pair to style with some menswear – plus if you’re a girl who crushes on boys clothes, you should probably do a post on the boyfriend jean!

What I hadn’t counted on, was the jeans actually fitting my boyfriend when they arrived. I’m pint-sized at the best of times but these jeans are wider and longer than usual. Not a problem though, the jeans themselves are fly, just be sure to get them in a size smaller if you’re popping online, or in my case get your styling cap on because they’re not as straight forward as your usual skinny-denim numbers. What they are however, are versatile.

You can wear them high-waisted with a belt, rolled up to show off some of your lower leg, or loose fitted for a relaxed off-duty look. Whatever you teem them with, they’ve got that Urban Outfitters hipster feel with the heritage and quality of the Levi’s brand.

So every day this week I’m going to be posting one of my looks, they’re all quite different and I’d love to know what you think.

You can find the other girls looks and check all my looks out at once here.

THE FIRST OF FIVE

Let’s be honest, it’s hard to dress for a garden party, summer wedding or spectator based sporting activity (say Ascot or Henley) when there’s a heat wave on and you love menswear. Whilst all the other ladies are floating about in breezy dresses, finding an outfit that is summery, cool and from the men’s aisles can be tough. But I have found the solution! Check out my shirt from Danish menswear label Wood Wood. In bright yellow its eye catching, season appropriate and loose enough to let some air in.

Accessories? I got these shoes in Brazil about five years ago and they remain to this day my go-to pair of heels. They’re super comfortable and I love the colourful striped heel detail. The handbag is from Zara Basics but I acquired it in a flea market in Lisbon called LX (if you’re ever in Lisbon you must pop in, make sure you have a coffee at the Ler Devagar bookshop, this is a hidden gem if ever there was one).
