That I crush on Christopher Shannon is hardly a secret, his rave inspired SS14 collection full of all things sparkly was nothing but a delight to behold, and at LCM in January the Scouse designer presented an AW14 collection of sportswear that explored the birth of the tracksuit, reconstructing and updating it for the contemporary gent.
Shannon has collaborated with the likes of Eastpak, Topman, the Cambridge Satchel Company and Kickers, and for SS14 the designer joins forces with high street footwear label Dune. His signature urban and sportswear driven style has been applied to a capsule collection of slip ons, hi tops and sneakers.Textured patent leather, suede and rubber soles are featured in a palette of blue, grey and black.
Shannon said of the collaboration: “The project for me was about putting a different slant on the Dune brand without isolating the current customer. Sometimes designer collaborations can be intimidating and I wanted this to feel inclusive and exciting. I wanted to create a new dialogue between the fabrications, textures and finishes, selecting styles that would work as a range and complement each other by cross referencing the details. Ideally you could travel with a few pairs and always have an appropriate choice which is key for a modern man’s wardrobe. The versatility of the styles makes them perfect for the current trend for capsule dressing. “
