It’s always exciting when one of your favourite menswear labels reinvigorates their womenswear line. You Must Create (YMC) has long been one of my preferred brands for quality, durable men’s clothing that transcends trends, it’s only recently however that I’ve been drawn to their womenswear too. The aesthetic is utilitarian and easy to wear. It’s designed for the kind of woman that makes the quietest entrance at the party, but still manages to achieve maximum impact by home time – hell it’s designed for the kind of woman we would all like to be! Natural, smart, funny…For girls who love menswear, YMC are a great womenswear alternative. The clothing is intelligent, the shapes relaxed and the general aesthetic is tomboyish without being frumpy.

And so I come on to “what I’m wearing” today. It’s a friend’s leaving drinks and we’re going for summer spritzers on the water front – it’s pretty darn warm in the sun, but cooler in the evening so I’m wearing my newly acquired YMC trousers that are from their yet-to-be-launched AW14 collection. They’re cut for a high waist with a roomy crotch and legs, which makes them perfect for wearing with brogues or Birkenstocks during the day, but dressing up with clogs for the evenings.
