justdoitYou’ve heard me talk about tomboy label WILDFANG, whose co-founders were frustrated that the clothes they loved were always designed for men, well now let me introduce you to another kick ass female duo creating a stir in menswear, but this time they’re shining a light on sneakers.

Emily Hodgson and Emilie Riis were sick of falling in love with dark, slick trainers in the men’s shoe departments that were far too large for their lady-sized feet. After countless occasions of being redirected to the women’s aisles where pink and purple sneakers reign, they decided to do something about it, and so Purple Unicorn Planet (PUP) was born.

Setting up a faux ecommerce site, PUP shows off a collection of Nike’s finest, however when you click on a model you are informed that the sneaker doesn’t exist in your size – it’s only for men. Taking to twitter with the hashtag #pleasejustdoit, they hoped to reach out to Nike and encourage them to offer their men’s lines in sizes 3 – 5.5, but when their efforts were virtually ignored it was Reebok that got in touch and offered them to collaborate on future designs – you go girls!
