There are some basic skills you need to have acquired if you want to dress like a dapper damsel. If, like me, you were never subjected to a school uniform, you may not have ever learnt to tie a tie. As the only brownie I’ve ever encountered has been of the chocolate variety, the most elaborate knot I can tie is of the shoelace variety – until now that is. About a month ago I sat down and taught myself how to tie a necktie, and then upgraded to learning how to tie a bow tie. Now, I know my tying isn’t perfect, and that there are countless numbers of knots to learn to suit your collar type, but if like me you want a straight forward dummies guide to rocking some neckwear, here’s me Girl’s Guide to looking gentrified in your menswear accessories.

    Great video. There is a printable instruction page at the A to Z book of Menswear which you can put in front of your mirror. But the person tying is not so attractive!
