GANT Rugger announces Womenswear launch

It is no secret that I am a big fan of menswear label GANT Rugger. The hip, younger brother to GANT combines American sportswear, East Coast prep, and Scandi cool to create a wardrobe that never fails to impress. Real (cool) people are at the heart of this brand, referencing fine food and even finer living as much of their inspiration for collections. I’ve been buying their XS sweaters and shirts for some time now and it would appear that I’m not alone, as the brand cites their dedicated female clientele as the catalyst for today’s announcement. Yep, it gives me great pleasure to let y’all know that today GANT Rugger has announced the launch of their debut womenswear line.

Wetting our appetites with last season’s #girlsingantrugger campaign (here’s how I got involved), the brand decided it was high time to create a bespoke collection for the ladies. Available for purchase from July this year, the 16 piece AW14 collection will retain all the quality and cool of their menswear equivalent, but with a playful, feminine twist.

Designer, Filippa Hallstensson (aka Fiffi) described the GANT Rugger girl as feeling as comfortable in scruffy trainers and a tee, as in heels for an evening reception. Unlike other women’s lines, GANT Rugger will not purposely “girl-ify” pieces by giving them minute buttons or slim cuffs, but retain the menswear inspired look and feel of their male counterpart – cool Oxford shirts, masculine cut coating and our very own version of AW13’s Varsity Sherpa jacket will soon be available to us girls, and I cannot wait!
