Portfolios_1066Do you remember when you were younger and you had to have your name sewn into EVERYTHING. I still have some of my old school jumpers (great quality) with my rather long name tattooed across the neckline, and my leather satchel has my name engraved in permanent marker across its insides which always causes embarrassment when I use it 20 years on.

Still to this day though, there is something quite special about personalising a gift or one of your belongings, and I’ve noticed I’ve taken to it increasingly of late. I was getting my nails down the other day (a rarity) and spent minutes of mental arithmetic trying to work out how to fit G-I-R-L I-N M-E-N-S- well you get the gist, spelt out on my finger nails. Then, I was sold when I heard that REISS, were offering the opportunity to engrave your name on their newly released perfumes at Selfridges (the mens one is divine), and now one of my favourite menswear leather accessories labels is doing likewise.

Available at Fortnum and Mason, TUSTING are offering a bespoke service on several of their top selling bags until the end of October. Shoppers will have the opportunity to select from three models and then customise the colour of the leather, lining, metal fittings, threads and emboss their initials to create a truly one of a kind item. Call me a narcissist but with such stylish options, who wouldn’t opt for the personal touch?
