Look 3

Spring has sprung, or is at least in the process of springing, and as a consequence rails are filled with bright colours and bold prints for Easter and on.

For my third and final chino challenge look, I have opted for Topshop’s floral jacquard t-shirt, which has a gorgeous structured form and is patterned in brights pinks, reds, greens, yellows and most importantly a matching powder blue to my Rugger chinos. I’ve actually paid a visit to my local tailor to take my chinos in slightly around the thighs – loved them before, love them even more now.

I’ve coupled the tee with a crepe notch neck jacket also from Topshop in lime green. Fluro colours, particularly lime green, might seem a bit daunting on the hanger but as there are traces of lime in my tee and the chinos are relatively subtle (in comparison) the bright colour creates a fresh and fun look ideal for work/evening drinks/summer parties etc.

I’ve been a big fan of pairing cutsie school socks with heels since the trend took off a few years ago, and here I’ve dug up some bright pink ones to teem with my suede turquoise stacked stilettos from Faith.

It’s a bold look, but one that every girl and guy should brave – as long as you’re extracting your colours from the foundation tones of your print you can’t go to wrong!

SO what’s your favourite look?

Good idea about having the chinos tailored; I often find the legs are a little wider than I’d like.

I haven’t been using fluorescent colors so far myself, but I may take your advice and start with some socks or other small item to add interest. I wear a lot of black, so I’m sure my outfits could use a little livening up.

My look of the moment is to wear skinny neckties. I’ve bought some vintage ones on eBay, and they make any outfit more fun. They’re great with chinos or with skirts, too.
