Yesterday morning I enjoyed a press breakfast with the charming gents from River Island. They’ve been selling to the Stockholmites for a while now via Nelly.com (that’s the ASOS of the Nordics to you and I), and are now looking to set up shop in this trendy Scandi capital. Over orange juice, they showed us around their A/W13 menswear and womenswear collections, including their Rihanna and Eudon Choi lines for the ladies, and Tom Lipop for the dapper gents.
I am besotted with this neon sweater from their menswear department, which would look pretty awesome with these smart, specked ankle grazing trousers I’m holding up below. I also found myself crushing on this dark red wool Tom Lipop gilet, which is part of a 16piece collection courtesy of this up and coming design talent. Its all dark hues, weighty fabrics and functional pieces for the cooler months – super masculine and tailored, but trust me its one for girls to get their mits on too.
Meet my favourite clutch bag from the womenswear accessories and my favourite from the men’s – how cool is this Tom Lipop leather satchel, right!? From this tiny bejewelled spectacle for the evenings, to this functional men’s backpack for the day, I was really impressed with the variety of styles, shapes and sizes that River Island accessories offer up.
And now for the shoes! Bling + Brogues = a happy Blogger. How kickass are these gold brogues? There were sky high stilettos on show, some cool, navy patent loafers, and some studded black Chelsea boots available to eye-up, but these bad boys were my favourite piece of footwear by far. 
And finally, a look I am loving for the Fall is the roll-neck sweater, particularly as styled below with a blazer and tie pin. The pink fedora hat and grey pork pie are definitely going to be on my winter wish list too. 
All in all, a big thumbs up for River Island’s menswear collections. With sizing on the small side, I will certainly be grabbing some items from the Tom Lipop line and styling them with the odd accessory from the women’s – those gold brogues are a must!
