This season’s boys meets girl trend has given way to a generous offering of flat shoes traditionally made for men. Brogues, Oxfords, penny loafers, slippers and driving shoes, made in sumptuous materials, are now available in the womenswear departments in abundance – finally being comfortable can also mean being fashionable! Hurrah!

However, with all these beautiful leather flats, comes a responsibility to maintain them. These are shoes worth investing in, and thus worth looking after too. At this time of year when the ground is wet and sludgy and your shoes get damaged easily, its essential that you buy a good polish and brush to keep your leathers looking squeaky clean, and here’s your Girls Guide on how to do so – featuring Russell & Bromley

I love to wear mens shoes but I’m a size 7(US) in women. I can’t find any men wingtips shoes to fit! Can you direct me anywhere. Boy’s sizes are not of the same quality!

Hey Mary, thanks for visiting Girl in Menswear and for your comment. My fave brands for brogues/wingtips are Russell & Bromely, Grensons (who’ve just started doing women’s shoes in the style of their mens ones), Church’s and Tods. All are great quality and beautiful design. Hope this helps! x
