You will have most likely seen the Medusa like woolen constructions of Rei Kawakubo’s AW14 MONSTER collection for Comme des Garçons, but perhaps have yet to glimpse the more wearable garments of the fashion houses Comme Comme line. Showing to an intimate audience at Paris Fashion Week, this was a show that shied away from PR frenzy in favour of presenting exclusively to buyers and a handful of photographers and editors. Although it was a low key affair, the collection did not disappoint. Fans of the fashion house will be au fait with Kawakubo’s minimalist shirting, blazers, 3/4 length skirts, cardigans and dropped crotch pants, which are seasonally updated with small stylistic detailing. New for Autumn/Winter is khaki suiting and a black velvet padded jacket. The mood of course remains tailored and masculine, but with an empowering feminine undercurrent.
