I have been a bit slack on introducing you to Scandinavian labels of late (my bad), but today’s post should more than make up for my absence – meet Minimarket. Minimarket was founded back in 2006 by three Swedish sisters, Sofie, Jennifer, and Pernilla Elvestedt, and since launching has won the Elle Sweden award for “Best New Designer” and more latterly “Best Designer”.
Floral bomber jackets, slouchy dresses and sleek trenches make up their SS14 womenswear collection, pieces that epitomise their easy-to-wear, feminine aesthetic. Although I love Minimarket’s clothing, what really draws me to the brand is their footwear, which has become somewhat iconic up here in the Nordics. Their signature cut-out shoe (above) is constructed from leather and is unisex (apparently because stylists and buyers kept requesting them in men’s sizing). You may have seen a similar style in Armani’s SS14 footwear range, but for £200 these are a far more affordable alternative. They’re the perfect footwear option for summer days spent in an urban setting, with the impact of a brogue and all the comfort of a sandal.
Minimarket cut out shoes in snake skin cost £200 and are available here.
