dolceOk, ok, I know Dolce & Gabbana are the antithesis of Girl in Menswear dressing, theirs are the ostentatious show-stopping pieces for the most womanly of women, but even this girl (with her love of sartorial styling) cannot resist featuring their whimsical AW14 collection.

Dolce & Gabbana create collections overspilling with beauty and excess, so it seems only natural that AW14 should be themed around the fantastical world of the fairy tale.

Entitled “Once upon a time in Sicily”, the setting was the enchanted forest, where wicked witches emerged wearing glittering black mini dresses, and Red Riding Hood  bore lace shift dresses appliqued with foxes and wide-eyed owls. Knights in shining armour were equally embellished, dressed in bejewelled thigh-high flat boots and chainmail head pieces. Fur trimmed hoods, Medieval shapes, opulent details and raised waists shunned the futurist theme of other Fashion Week designers, preferring the more mystical mood of centuries past.

Dolce & Gabbana waved their magic wand over the Italian fashion capital yesterday, and I must confess, I am totally and utterly spell bound.
