I have a confession to make; My last post featured very little menswear. Hell, I wore two skirts and a tiara – it couldn’t have been further from dickie bows and whistles and flutes.
Rightly so, someone called me up on my lack of menswear via instagram, which made me step back and reflect on the essence of Girl in Menswear. Yes, it’s “not just for girls, and not just about menswear”, but it is of course primarily a portal for those interested in tomboy fashion and a different take on womenswear trends. Sometimes however a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do, and sometimes this girl’s gotta wear a feathery skirt and a princess crown. So sue me, I watched Frozen and kinda liked it.
Today however I’m back in the boys clothes – hurrah!
On a recent trip to London I found myself in my high street Mecca – Topman at Oxford Circus. My love for high street menswear is born of a petite frame that requires clothing in XS or preferably XXS, and as Topman fashions teenagers as well as older gents, it’s got choice when it comes to sizing. This short sleeved shirt is my summer crush – roses are big, bulbous and boyish rather than dainty and delicate as per the women’s aisles. Of course the ubiquitous Birkenstock is featured and worn with socks – as much for fashion as it is for blister prevention. I’m kind of digging the look – what do you think?
Shop the look: Topman Shirt (similar here), ASOS Mom shorts, vintage belt, socks and Birkenstocks.
It’s seductive! I love..
I love your style. Just a different take from other female bloggers. I did a post on menswear as well (more of an exhibition). Check it out – http://www.bisousnatasha.com/return-of-the-rudeboy/
Thanks Natasha, glad you like the style and that you’re also a menswear fan! Awesome post. Soph x
