FUGLY footwear gets fashionable

Pool slides have really only ever had one place, and that is by the pool. They are the ugly ducklings of summer footwear, favoured by tracksuit wearing teenage boys, certainly not the go-to footwear for the fashionable. But low, January's Vogue declares otherwise. Look at these stunning pictures of model Freja Beha Erichsen in her native Denmark, she's coupled her couture with NIKE pool slides and looks indisputably cool -... ...READ MORE

Michael Kors pre-fall 2014

If there is one womenswear collection which has me counting down the days until NEXT autumn, it's Michael Kors' pre-fall line. The garcon trend has been a style staple for AW13 and it shows no signs of budging, with pre-fall collections featuring an updated take on the boy-meets-girl mood. With summer stretching into traditionally cooler months, and an incredibly mild winter so far, trans-seasonal collections are more relevant than ever, and... ...READ MORE

Coda Multi-colour high-tops by GUCCI

Think Gucci footwear and you think sleek stilettos or twee loafers, not I'm guessing, pick 'n' mix coloured satin high tops. Gucci has been making statement sneakers for men for sometime, but I'd never really seen a woman's alternative until these panelled bad boys came along. Gucci is the biggest selling Italian brand, although its actually owned by French umbrella company Kering. Set up in 1921 in Florence, the signature... ...READ MORE

WEEKDAY’s white vest, unanimously unisex

Today is the final day of my sneak preview of the MTWTFSS/HE Weekday collection due to arrive in store in January 2014. There are some key themes that have been excluded from my shoot, namely the pieces created in tartan and a rather fetching interpretation of the bomber jacket-come-coat - unfortunately they weren't available to photograph. Today's look features my favourite piece from the collection, a white denim, boxy shaped... ...READ MORE

What does it mean to be truly unisex?

So yesterday I introduced you to the first look from the MTWTFSS/HE SS14 collection where I featured a white leather jacket and a floor-length dress come thawb. Some friends of mine looked at my pictures and immediately declared the outfit womenswear not unisex - but is it? Why is a dress anymore womenswear than menswear? Did you feel it was a gender neutral outfit? What do you associate with genderless fashion?... ...READ MORE

Company Magazine

The Company Magazine team asked a selection of bloggers what we would be wearing this festive season. I opted for a menswear inspired tuxedo for my Christmas part outfit (quelle surprise!), here's what the other girls are wearing. Genderless Fashion by MTWTFSS/HE

If you live in Scandinavia, you've probably heard of progressive high street favourite Weekday before, but if you're from outside of the Nordics you may not be familiar with the part brand, part retail concept. Weekday was the original stocker of Cheap Monday, and continues to house some of Sweden's most eclectic brands, including hipster favourite BACK and Rodebjer. Perhaps  Weekday's most boundary pushing brands however, are their own -... ...READ MORE

The Girl Guide to Wearing Menswear: Part Three

http://vimeo.com/77683463 This season's boys meets girl trend has given way to a generous offering of flat shoes traditionally made for men. Brogues, Oxfords, penny loafers, slippers and driving shoes, made in sumptuous materials, are now available in the womenswear departments in abundance - finally being comfortable can also mean being fashionable! Hurrah! However, with all these beautiful leather flats, comes a responsibility to maintain them. These are shoes worth investing... ...READ MORE

A feathered affair

I have an teeny tiny Ziggy Stardust living inside me. A proper ginger mulleted, eye-patch wearing David Bowie just waiting to be unleashed at any given occasion.  Unfortunately fashioning a lightning bolt across ones face is not appropriate for most occasions, but a touch of the 80's usually is. Not so long ago I did a post about Original Penguin's feather capsule collection, and have since been the proud recipient... ...READ MORE

[caption id="attachment_2472" align="alignnone" width="750"] Christopher Raeburn for Victorinox.[/caption] Brit heritage brand Barbour have done it again. After the success of their collaborations with Paul Smith, Alice Temperley and Anya Hindmarch, they are adding yet another designer name to their roster with the announcement of a womenswear capsule collection with Christopher Raeburn. Christopher Raeburn's womenswear and menswear collections are a rare partnership of aesthetics and ethics, with the British designer pioneering... ...READ MORE

Noa flower slipper by ACNE

ACNE is the Scandinavian brand on everyones lips, and a brand I simply cannot get enough of. The fashion house was started in the late 90's when co-founder Jonny Johansson created one hundred pairs of raw denim jeans with a distinctive red stitching which he distributed amongst his hip friends and family. With a base in Stockholm the brand has gone from strength to strength, exporting ultra-cool Scandinavian minimalism to... ...READ MORE

Kenzo x Liberty

I've only just caught my breath after ogling over the Damien Hirst x Alexander McQueen collaboration, when another incredible accessories partnership lands in store just in time for Christmas. Japanese fashion powerhouse Kenzo have partnered up with the ever-iconic, luxury department store Liberty, to create a limited edition capsule collection of silk scarves. Both brands are known for their distinctive prints; Kenzo for their bold tiger motifs ,and Liberty for... ...READ MORE

Androgynous make-up for your androgynous clothing.

Every year the "au natural" trend pops up in various guises. Being bare faced and youthful is forever a la mode (even if grey hair is making a comeback). Now if you are a twenty-something girl, living in a country where temperatures fluctuate between the minus figures outdoors, and then rocket to sauna like heights inside (thank you Sweden) your skin can look a bit blotchy at the best of... ...READ MORE

Water, water everywhere, nor any drop to drink.

I have another ultra-hip Swedish brand to introduce you to. I've been a bit light on my Scandinavian showcasing of late, but I return with a big bang of a brand. With the snow being a tad slow, and instead having to make-do with a slushy, wet alternative, a waterproof outer layer is a must. So, let me introduce you to raincoat brand Stutterheim. Stutterheim aren't the only Scandinavian raincoat... ...READ MORE

CoCo brogues by Amelie Pichard

I have a real thing for gold brogues at the moment, but an even bigger thing for bronze ones. These CoCo brogues by French accessories designer Amélie Pichard feature the labels signature chunky rubber brogue sole, in a nod to her time training with an orthopaedic boot maker. The Parisian designer produces offbeat, retro inspired accessories which she describes as  "dreamy but realistic, masculine but terribly sophisticated". Regularly featured... ...READ MORE

Brooklyn We Go Hard

Brooklyn We Go Hard (BWGH) is one of my favourite menswear brands to come out of Paris of late. More than solely a fashion label, the duo behind the brand have christened themselves an 'art collective' who cater for a 'passionate and open-minded generation'. Before you scoff the collective title, it's worth checking out the works of their young crew of photographers, or getting your hands on a copy of... ...READ MORE

Orlebar Brown: Around the World in 24 Bloggers

It's hard to imagine reclining on sun-drenched sands when it's about to hit -12C in Stockholm, but if I'm going to allow my mind to wander to warmer climes I'm taking Orlebar Brown with me. Launched in 2007 by photographer Adam Brown, the focus is on flattering and elegant swimwear that can be taken from the beach to the pool bar seamlessly. The menswear BULLDOG swimming shorts are a fantastic... ...READ MORE

Boutonniere: A button sized bloom

When dapper-dressing, it's all about the details. A man (or a woman) can rock the most beautifully tailored two-piece suit, but it's the finishing touches that elevates ones status from smart-dressed to sartorially-blessed. If you're a bit of a dandy anyway, and own stylish socks in abundance, pocket-squares galore, the finest silk bow-ties on the market and a slip case that's still mooing, the leather is such high-quality - what... ...READ MORE

The Girl Guide to Wearing Menswear: Part 2

http://vimeo.com/77672212 So you've seen me tie a bow tie, in my first Girl Guide video edition, so you would have thought tying a necktie would be far easier right? Wrong. I struggle with this basic menswear skill, but have found a fail safe method to making a smart looking neckwear knot that will have girls looking fly when they're rocking their most dapper attire. Here's your step by step guide... ...READ MORE

TOGA Pulla Ankle Boots

Japanese label TOGA was launched in 1997 by designer Yasuko Furuta. With vintage and retro-inspired clothing at the heart of the brand, Furuta's motto is "to reincarnate, rather than remake". The Tokyo born designer studied in Paris, and TOGA has been showing at Paris Fashion Week since 2006 to critical acclaim. The TOGA boot has become synonymous with the brands younger, arguably more hip (and affordable) line - Pulla. Constructed... ...READ MORE
